What is a blind persons tax credit?
Your claim for this tax credit should be accompanied by a certificate from an ophthalmologist.
You get a credit against your tax liability for the lower of:
(a) if you are single, €1,650,
(b) if you are a married couple assessed jointly, and both of you were blind for all or part of the year, €3,300, and
(c) the amount which reduces your income tax liability to nil.
